Veterans, National Guard, and Reservists who are eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill are also eligible for the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) to help offset the costs of living. BAH is based on geographic duty location, pay grade, and dependency status.1 The rate is adjusted annually to reflect the change in the rental market.
For 2014, Santa Clarita veterans, National Guard or Reservists at the E-1 pay grade will be eligible to claim $1,992/month if you’re living with dependents and $1,509/month if you’re living without dependents. That's a decrease of $69/month and $36/month respectively.
If you were enrolled in 2013, your allowance will not change. If you are just starting school or haven't yet enrolled, you will receive the 2014 rate. For differences in allowance based on your pay rate, visit the BAH calculator.
